Gorilla Sprint – Press Release15 July 2017
On Saturday 15th July 2017, Dunstan Thomas took part in the inaugural Gorilla Sprint, a triathlon event which helps to raise money for Singing Gorilla Projects. Each Dunstan Thomas rider was sponsored £500 by Dunstan Thomas.
Singing Gorilla Projects are a charity set up by Dunstan Thomas CEO Chris Read, that facilitate and fund community based projects in a remote part of Uganda. Singing Gorilla projects have helped to install water tanks, paid for children to continue schooling and have built the Nkuringo Green Hill Health Clinic, to provide medical care for the community. The money raised through this event is to fund a water pipeline in Uganda. The plan is to move water to make it more accessible to those in the local area of a village called Kabaya.
In total, the Gorilla Sprint spanned 42 miles, including 36 miles of cycling, broken up with a 5 mile walk around the Kingley Vale, closing with a 1 mile row around Langstone Harbour.
The task lasted a gruelling 7 hours, with teams setting off at 10:00, only finishing around 17:00 to enjoy a barbecue and a well-earned drink.
