21 May 2018

On Sunday 22nd April 2018, Senior Developer for Dunstan Thomas, Andrew Broad ran the London Marathon, raising money for the National Autistic Society. The National Autistic Society provides information, support and pioneering services and campaigns for a better world for autistic people. The services provided include residential housing for those with autism, supported living, one-to-one support and building skills for a work environment.

The marathon took Andrew 4 hours and 39 minutes, an impressive time given the 23 degree heat. Roughly 40,000 people participated in the 38th London Marathon, with proceedings starting from Blackheath at 10am and finishing the 26 miles at the Mall. See photos of Andrew in action below!

However, the most important part of this event is the money raised for Andrew chosen charity. This charity is really close to Andrew’s heart as his son William, has Asperger’s. The overall total reached an enormous £2,088.58, which is an extremely impressive feat; congratulations to Andrew. Of that total, £641 was raised by members of the Dunstan Thomas staff, which was matched by the Chief Executive, Chris Read. To continue to donate to Andrew’s fundraiser, this is the link!

Andrew said, “I met a lot of people over the weekend who have had tremendous help from the National Autistic Society, so I know this funding will make a real difference”. If you would like to donate to the National Autistic Society directly, please follow this link!
