Supporting health care in remote parts of Uganda.

10 June 2019

Dunstan Thomas has been supporting the charity Singing Gorilla Projects (SGP) since it started operations in 2015. Dunstan Thomas CEO, Christopher Read, is the founder, director and a trustee of charity. SGP funds and manages community based projects in remote parts of Uganda that improve the welfare of communities and enriches the lives of individuals. SGP builds and manages health facilities, builds schools and sponsors children to continue their schooling, and funds water delivery programs with water tanks, water filters and water pumping projects.

SGP work on the Nteko ridge and the surrounding hills in the Kisoro district of Uganda, a stone throw away from the DR Congo border, close by to Bwindi, the home of the last remaining majestic Mountain Gorilla.

The wards that Dunstan Thomas are building

With funding from both the staff and Dunstan Thomas, he has been working on extending the Health Clinic that it runs with a maternity and paediatric ward. In a visit last month, Chris checked out the progress that is being made. The roof is now on. The doors and windows will be installed next. The building is expected to be completed by the end of August. A fit out of the wards will then be worked on with services being delivered to the community in Nkuringo in January 2020.
